WORST Romantic Line Ever!
Author: Gayla Wick

Who doesn’t love a good movie? I know we do. Movie date nights are awesome whether it’s cuddling up on the couch together or going to the theater. On the list of our favorite types of movies are the sometimes sappy, yet heartwarming romantic comedies. No surprise there!

Me, a former true love skeptic, loves love stories, mainly because I have a love story of my own. However, when I was in a relationship nightmare watching a good rom-com was definitely not on my activities list. Romantic movies just made me feel worse about what I was missing and really, really wanted. I thought everyone else had the magical love relationship I desired, but couldn’t figure out how to get. I was wrong about that.

Not everyone in a love relationship or marriage is happy. Sometimes people just endure a bad relationship because they think it’s better than no relationship at all. That is definitely not true. No relationship is far better than being miserable and unfulfilled. What’s it really take to connect to love?

Well, definitely not some of the things we learn in rom-coms. So what’s the worst romantic line ever? In the movie, Jerry McGuire, Tom Cruise said to Renee Zellweger, “You complete me.” I almost break out in hives when I hear these words. No, no - no one is needed to complete you. You are already a complete person in every sense of the word.

You are not defective. You don’t need a man to complete you. You want a romantic partner to share your awesomeness with. Yes, a love relationship enhances your life in every way – physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. Of course, or why would you want to share your lovely self with another person and risk heartbreak?

Love requires a sweet vulnerability and willingness to be open enough to be hurt.

Love doesn’t require feeling less than or needy or require a desperate search to be completed. You are fine the way you are.

You know where you are and where you want to be. What you may not know is how to get there. I know because I was there myself. Don’t watch any more romantic comedies alone eating ice cream and wishing for love. Decide you are worth investing in yourself to learn the secrets no one told us when we most needed to know. It took me a very, very long time to find my authentic love partner. It doesn’t have to take long at all once you know how to remove the blocks and become a magnet for your special someone.
