Online Dating – Never Make these 5 Mistakes

Gayla Wick - Wednesday, October 17, 2018

I really love learning new things and hope you do as well. With that in mind please be sure you read every article in this online dating series. You may know many of these online dating rules already and I hope you do, yet so many women (and men) are being scammed by online dating con artists.

Romance Scams are not going away anytime soon because they are so successful for the perpetrators. I don’t want you or anyone else to be taken by these low life criminals. Experiencing heartbreak in love is difficult enough without losing your money and your dignity.

I hope my articles have helped you feel confident that you can spot a con artist before they get a chance to break your heart and scavenge your bank account. Please share these articles with all of your single friends and family members. I’m sure you don’t want them to be victims. Let’s work together to stop Romance Scams before they even get started.

The most important rule in this series is still the one I wrote about a few weeks ago, Online Dating – True Love or Romance Scam? Even if you follow only one rule make it this one.

Since I know my readers are savvy and want all the information, tips and ideas they can get on the topic of love relationships, I’m sharing the most important things I’ve learned about online dating. Read them all and re-read them as necessary. Share with others so they can be protected too. This crime is so unnecessary, if you know what to look out for and how to respond. Smart women are falling for these scams every day because they don’t how to recognize the early warning signs for what is really going on.

Online Dating Rule 8: Never beg for love.

Are you begging for love and don’t even know it? Many women, through their actions and responses to potential dates, are actually telegraphing desperation instead of confidence. Here are a few signs you’re begging for love. Recognize them, know your worth and move on. There really are good men out there.

First: Continuing communication for months without meeting him. If he can’t meet you in person within a reasonable period of time, say 3 weeks then you should begin to suspect he isn’t really available or he may not even exist. Re-read Online Dating – Ghosts and Goblins Anyone?

Second: Tolerating less than kind and respectful behavior, especially early in the relationship. No one gets to belittle you, become demanding or try to make you feel bad in any way about yourself. Set high personal standards for yourself and any intimate partners. Re-read Online Dating – Are Your Eyes Wide Open?

Third: Making all of the effort from the beginning of the relationship. What is he doing to pursue you? Don’t make all of the plans or be overly accommodating. Men can easily spot desperation for love. Re-read Online Dating – 1 Thing You Must Not Do .

Fourth: Don’t start your relationship by spilling all of your wants and desires for a serious relationship and/or marriage and a family too early. You don’t know him yet. Right now you want to learn more about him and have fun together. Later you can decide if you want to be in an exclusive relationship with him. (Let him pursue you with real effort and a little romance.) Re-read Online Dating – He’s a Stranger.

Fifth: Leaping first into the boyfriend/girlfriend language and/or exclusivity. Don’t assume you are in a relationship until you’ve talked about it first. You’re just dating until you both are ready to commit to a monogamous relationship. Keep dating interesting men until one really makes a commitment to date only you.
