Finding the Love of Your Life

Some women spend more time picking out a new car than thinking about what they’re really looking for in a love relationship. Why is that?  For most of us we know that a new car will cost us quite a significant amount of money and we’ll be driving it for many years.  Those two reasons alone are probably enough for us to put in some time researching our best options and making some decisions before we even set out to test drive a vehicle. The wisdom and logic of this is so clear for major purchases, yet so many women do not apply even a fraction of this objective planning to their quest for love.

Deciding what we truly want in a life partner and knowing what our “deal breakers” are is a vital step in the process I use with my coaching clients.  Failing to do this is like going out to a restaurant and telling the waiter to “just bring us some food.”  Nobody does that because we all know what we want, at least in the most general sense.  Asking a stranger to bring us something delicious we’ll be sure to enjoy is asking for clairvoyance – something not likely to happen in this scenario.  While it may take some time it’s important for us to stop and think about what choices will most likely result in our deepest satisfaction.
