Happy Holidays to my readers! Since starting my love relationship blog last summer you have been wonderfully supportive and encouraging. Thank you for your comments and insights. With two more posts to end this year, I wanted to share something I learned from the senior minister at church last Sunday. Dr. Roger Teel (MileHiChurch.org) included the following in his lesson from the wise teacher, Paramahansa Yogananda. I thought it was appropriate for the season and I especially love that it contains a golden thread of truth that permeates all spiritual paths.
Prepare for the coming of baby Christ by decorating an inner Christmas tree. Around that sacred tree, lay gifts of calmness, forgiveness, nobility, service, kindness, spiritual understanding...and, devotion...each one wrapped in a golden covering of good will, and bound with a silver cord of your pure sincerity. Paramahansa Yogananda.
These “gifts” may have special meaning for each of us, but I think we can all agree the world would be a better place if we embraced them in our own lives in our own way. I know I want to embrace life’s challenges with an inner calmness that will help me to think with more clarity. Forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves. The definition of forgiveness I’ve come to like is “stop blaming” - pretty simple, but profound. For me nobility means to remember who we are - behaving in all situations as our higher self. As we become aware of our connectedness to each other our desire to be of service naturally follows. Kindness is an attribute most of us agree upon and so often forget to apply to ourselves as well as to others, especially when it’s not easy. Spiritual understanding to me means setting aside judgments of other’s spiritual choices. When I think of devotion I am reminded of passion – to find some worthy endeavor about which to be devoted or committed to for the benefit of yourself and others. Good will and sincerity are the perfect wrapping for these gifts. We all know how it feels to be the recipient of sincere communication which comes from a foundation of good will.
Our intimate relationships are so valuable to our well being in this world. How we treat each other can make our lives so much richer or so much poorer. Singles – embracing all of your inner gifts makes you infinitely more attractive in every way. For my married readers, you know how vital it is to give your best qualities to your love relationship. We truly do cherish and care for that which we value.
Thank you for allowing me to share my experiences and insights with you this year. Please share my website: www.GaylaWick.com with anyone you think may benefit from being a part of my love relationship community. Peace, joy and abundance to you this holiday season!
Until next time remember: Hold on gently to your inner gifts as they will be what lights your way forward.
